Bodies of babies and children discovered among remains of 300 in mass grave by woman searching for twin

A woman searching for her twin brother in a mass grave from the 1992-95 Bosnian War made the horrifying discovery of the remains of 300 children and babies.

Samra Kesinovic was digging in Tomašica, a village in northern Bosnia, where Serb forces once ran a prison camp, when she found the first bone fragments of a child.

She continued digging and found more bones, including skulls and tiny rib cages. She realized she had stumbled upon a mass grave, and she called the police.

Forensic experts have since exhumed the remains of 300 people from the mass grave, including 60 children and babies. The youngest victim was just a few months old.

The discovery is a reminder of the horrors of the Bosnian War, which claimed the lives of an estimated 100,000 people, and displaced millions more.

The war was marked by ethnic cleansing, mass executions, and other atrocities committed by all sides of the conflict.

The mass grave in Tomašica is just one of many that have been discovered in Bosnia since the end of the war. In 2010, a mass grave containing the remains of 744 people was found in Srebrenica, the site of a notorious massacre committed by Bosnian Serb forces in 1995.

The discovery of the mass grave in Tomašica is a reminder of the importance of remembering the victims of war and fighting against impunity.

Kesinovic said she was motivated to search for her brother because she wanted to give him a proper burial.

She said she never gave up hope of finding him, even though it had been more than 20 years since he disappeared.

Kesinovic's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of hope.
