Sun Earn Second Straight Win Behind Dominant Performances

Jones and Mabrey Combine for 39 Points in Sun Victory

The Connecticut Sun extended their winning streak to two games with an 88-69 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday afternoon at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Brionna Jones and Marina Mabrey led the way for the Sun, combining for 39 points. Jones finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Mabrey added 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

The Sun jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They led by as many as 21 points in the first half and took a 47-30 advantage into the break.

The Mercury made a run in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 10 points. But the Sun responded with a 10-0 run to put the game away.

DeWanna Bonner led the Mercury with 17 points, while Skylar Diggins-Smith added 16 points.

The Sun improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Mercury fell to 1-2.

• Alyssa Thomas did not play for the Sun due to a calf injury.
• The Sun shot 50.0% from the field, while the Mercury shot 38.2%.
• The Sun outrebounded the Mercury 43-29.
